Berish Perlman
Associate Program Director
Berish Perlman is a Brooklyn native who grew up in a heimish household, embodying Chasidic traditions while maintaining a broad world outlook. He’s been a member of Kollel Ateres Ami for six years.
Berish has been teaching the beginner Gemara class since 2021. His primary focus is to ensure that the students develop the skills of not only reading through a page of Gemara but identifying and understanding the seven basic moves of the Talmudic narrative. With energy and enthusiasm, his roar can be heard throughout the Bais Medrash, underscoring how enjoyable Torah study truly is.
He believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to acquire the crown of Torah and to that end, is integrally involved in setting up study partners and facilitating group development.
Berish is also the unofficial greeter at the Kollel, greeting every newcomer to the Kollel with a warm smile and a vigorous handshake. (Watch out, he is an expert at Jewish geography; it is very likely that you know someone in common!)
His wife Chana, is from Lakewood NJ, works part-time at Chessed Chicago and is involved in the Kollel N’shei.
They live a stone's throw from the Kollel with their three children.
