Aryeh Shulman
Rosh Kollel
Born in Minsk, Belarus and raised in Chicago, Rabbi Shulman attended U of I for undergraduate school and U of W for Medical School before going to Yeshivah in Eretz Yisroel where he became a close student of Rabbi Beryl Gershenfeld Shlita, one of the leaders in the fields of Kiruv and Baal Teshuva education.
After 3 years in the Mir Yeshiva, and another three years in Kollel, Rabbi Shulman was invited to join the prestigious Kollel Shav Shmaysa led by the HaGaon Rav Moshe Shapiro zt”l and ybl”c Rav Zevulun Schwartzman shlita.
Under Rabbi Schwartzman's guidance, Rabbi Shulman published a commentary on the Derech HaShem, drawing on the Ramchal’s other works to unlock the depths of this all-important work. Additionally, Rabbi Shulman received rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and later from Rav Elimelech Kornfeld.
Rabbi Shulman is known for his penetrating analysis and clear presentation. His unique background enables him to relate Torah teachings to contemporary science and philosophy.
His wife Raya, originally from London, is a full time homemaker and mother of 8, as well as a musician and choir director. The Rebbitzen uses song as a vehicle to bring the words of tefillah to life, and is often called upon to run local school productions and kumzitzim.
The Shulman children are integrally involved in the Kollel by setting up for events, babysitting when necessary, and serving as a good example for the other children of the Kollel community families.
